Whislt I’ve been too busy recently to write a new blog post I thought I’d give you a quick update on the music that I’ve been listening to the last few weeks.

First up is an Icelandic three piece

Samaris.

I first heard about them on Twitter and being a bit fan of Sigur Ros thought I’d check out some other Icelandic music so when I was hunting down vinyl in Piccadilly Records for my birthday I picked up their??first UK release and eponymously-titled album (actually its a compilation of their 2 Icelandic-released EPs with 4 additional remixes thrown in) It come on two gorgeous clear vinyls and is full of ?downtempo electronica and big percussive beats with some great ?haunting ethereal vocals.?It’s hardly been off my stereo and in good news they just announced that their second album ‘Silkidrangar’ is coming out on 6th May via One Little Indian. You can catch a sneak peak of the album below.

Warpaint

I’ve been a fan of Warpaint from the first moment I heard ‘Untow’ so it was with much anticipation that I preordered their self title new album. Can I just say that it didn’t disappoint rather than going on about how good it is though why not just listen to lead single ‘ Love is to Die’

Aquilo

The third feature act on this weeks playlist is an act that I came across through my work on BBC Introducing. Silverdale duo of?Tom Higham and Ben Fletcher uploaded ‘Calling Me’ just under a year ago and it quick became the most played track on the show thanks to it’s dream pop qualities. Well after a year off crafting away at their sound they are back with new track ‘You There’ and it is ever bit as good as ‘Calling Me’

other notable listens in the last month or so

Mogwai

Ed Harcourt
